The School of Economics consists of Departments of Economics, Business Administration, and Business Law. All department students study basic subjects of each department as common subjects so that they can have a comprehensive understanding of inter-relationships among economy, business administration, and business law. Each department has adopted a daytime and an evening course system. In the daytime course, students decide on their major courses in the second year and obtain detailed and specialized knowledge through interdisciplinary studies.

The Graduate School of Economics in the University of Toyama offers two Master's degree programs, in "Regional and Economic Policy" and "Business Administration." The goal of these programs is to nurture businesspersons with high level of expertise as well as researchers in Economics, Business Administration, and Business Laws. Research themes of graduate students include regional life and activities, industry and business, theories of public policies, comparative study on policies, strategies of enterprises, data processing, and economic regulations and laws. As of March 2018, the Graduate School of Economics conferred more than 400 Master of Economics or Business Administration degrees.
